Happy September (again LOL)!!
So, you might have seen my posting yesterday about a cleanse that I was going to do yesterday and today. Well, truthfully, it didn’t last past lunch.
I don’t know if it was the sinus headache I had, the fact that it’s that time of the month so I didn’t feel great already or something else but I felt awful by the time I got home and wanted food. Real food. Something more substanial than my planned snack of greens and veggies. So, I had chips with hummus and salsa and then I had rice with sauteed zucchini and summer squash with sour dough bread for dinner. I even had a little chocolate later for a snack.
I didn’t even want to write about giving up on the cleanse. But then I remembered:
This blog isn’t about being perfect, it’s meant to be a space where I openly share my struggles and triumphs while living a healthy, mindful and compassionate life.
So, I failed. Well, not really.
I just stopped doing the cleanse. It doesn’t mean I’m a failure. At first I didn’t want to give up, I wanted to hold out for all 2 days. Honestly, I felt like a failure because I couldn’t make it on the cleanse for more than 1/2 a day. But you know what? I’m happy I even tried. And thinking about, I don’t believe I eat “bad” foods; in fact, I think my diet and lifestyle are pretty freaking awesome.
Most days out of the year I feel fantastic and I believe it’s because I fuel my body with whole, natural foods that come from the earth! Normally:
I have lots of energy
Rarely have headaches or stomache aches (except for sinuses, they suck)
I’m pretty “regular” (not a pretty topic, but important)
And best of all, I’m never hungry and always feel satisfied with my meals!
And guess what?
I don’t eat meat, fish, dairy or any animal products
OR processed foods
OR saturated fats
OR high-fructose corn syrup
OR lots of cookies, chips, soda, etc….
I fill my plates with: whole grains, lots of greens, veggies, fruits, nuts, beans, hummus, smoothies, etc. etc. etc.
Honestly, this is the 3rd time I’ve tried doing a cleanse and I must say that I don’t really like them. And I always give up after 1/2 a day. Yes, I think they can be helpful if you are trying to kick start a healthy lifestyle, or after a long weekend of binging on fries and burgers, or when your digestion is stuck in a funk. BUT I don’t fall into those categories so at this point, no more cleanses for me!
Rather, I’m just going to continue to focus to make the best choices for my health, my body and my entire being.
So what did I eat today? Check it out:
Breakfast at 7 AM was an awesome Colorful Smoothie with multi-grain Cheerios with blueberries on top!
