Letting Go With 3 Breaths

Posted on: 22 May 2012

Yesterday was a rough day and as each annoyance piled on-top of my shoulders I could literally feel them crowd into my mind and into the area between the shoulder blades. You know you’re having a bad day when all of your frustrations and challenges begin to physically manifest themselves in your body (another great reason to do yoga and meditate).

Anyways, rather than going into the details (just imagine missing the bus, broken-down train and an all day headache + much more) I want to share with you how I turned my night around by:

Letting Go of All the Frustrations in Just 3 Breaths

First, find a clear spot in a room where you can literally scoot your butt up against the wall and swing your feet up so that you literally have your legs up the wall (as shown in the picture on the right).

Now, place one hand on the middle of your chest. Place your other hand on your abdomen. Take one huge deep breath and blow it out like a horse.

Now…

One, inhale and think in your head: I release my frustrations

On your exhale think: I am a lighter

Two, inhale and think: I release my anger

On your exhale: I am at peace

Three, inhale: I welcome clarity

On your exhale: I feel better

Did that help? Hopefully after 3 breaths your frustrations and annoyances floated out of your body and you were left feeling calm and peaceful. No? Keep going. Try staying in this position and breathing like this for 1 – 5 minutes. If 3 breaths didn’t help, I bet after a couple minutes you’ll definitely feel more centered.

This is awesome.  I’m not very good at meditating, but I could see myself doing this.  Thank you.
