My First Session with a Life Coach

Posted on: 6 Jun 2012

Last Wednesday night I spoke with the inspiring Life Coach, Mara from Medicinal Marzipan, and I have to say it was an amazing experience. Speaking with a life coach was a great way to open up my mind to all the possibilities that future has in store and really dig deep into my soul to figure out just what was most important to me.

Check out my first video blog where I talk about the many reasons working with a Life Coach is helpful, effective and completely worthwhile.

Speaking with Mara gave me a wonderful feeling of support. Just by listening to me and taking all of my ideas seriously she validated my beliefs, dreams and goals. Just by being there and providing an open ear she let me know that my thoughts weren’t silly and were worth my time.

Genuine, honest and insightful feedback. A Life Coach isn’t supposed to tell you what to do with your life. They’re meant to help you better understand the barriers in your way and the changes you wish to make. That way you’re not just passively sitting back while someone tells you how to change your life but rather you’re taking control and actively engaging in moving forward.

Mara wasn’t only listening but she was also providing very very insightful ideas, inspiration and guidance. I could tell throughout the call that she was truly understanding my concerns, struggles and aspirations and as a result was able to provide concrete ideas on how to take the next step.

Action, action, action – it’s all about action. Talking only gets you so far and yea, it’s what can help you realize your true goals and challenges BUT it doesn’t always solve the problem, or give you the push you need to make the change. Talking is just part of the process of living a true, authentic, joyful life that is free of insecurities and full of happiness. The other part of the process is action and that’s where the magic happens. That’s where you can see yourself grow and blossom and flourish. It’s where you can feel yourself moving and transforming into a stronger, braver person. Action is what will turn your ideas and dreams into a beautiful reality.

Accountability. Yea, you can make lists and set goals and create reminders on your iPhone and do all of those other little things that will help you fulfill your goals BUT none of those things are the same as actually talking to a real person that wants the best for you. Having someone out there that is rooting for you and wants to see you succeed can give you that extra nudge you need to jump off the cliff and trust yourself to fly.

As Mara says, “Together we will work to tap into your deepest potential and learn how to rock your life.”
