My New Gaiam Pants On & Off the Mat

Posted on: 25 Jun 2012

I don’t talk about a lot of brands on my site because honestly, I’m pretty picky and I’m also cheap, but one company that I really love is Gaiam. I love that their brand focuses on positive change, health and wellness and being Mother Earth friendly. So when they asked if I’d like to review a few products I literally jumped up and down with excitement. Then I jumped with joy when I opened the box and saw my new Gaiam yoga capri pants, yoga mat and matching bag and water bottle.

Since then I have been wearing the pants ALL THE TIME! I wear them to yoga, zumba, running, coffee down the street, grocery shopping and around the house and the best part is – they are SO comfortable I practically forgot I’m wearing them. In fact, I love them so much that I wish I had two pairs – one for working out and one pair to lounge in.

They’re especially awesome because they fit well, they are flexible and breathable, they are super flattering and they fall right at my knees, which is just where I like it. And they even have a little zipper pocket on my left hip, which is great for when I go running and want to bring a few bucks and a chap-stick. The pants are made with 94% organic cotton and 6% spandex.

I also love my new yoga mat – it’s so beautiful and relaxing to look at while I’m in downward dog. It’s also a great thickness – only 3mm – and it’s not slippery at all. I’ve taken my mat to Forrest yoga classes, a few vinyasa and one astanga and in every class I feel stable and well protected. And I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on the color and the beautiful Tree of Life design.

Overall, I might not like to spend a ton of money on workout clothing or any clothing for that matter but I do care about good quality which is why I love Gaiam. Their products are durable and also very good looking and makes my life easier, which is great!

I found your post because I have a coupon for Gaiam pants and I am trying to find out whether they run big or small. I am right in between sizes S and M on their chart, but I have found that yoga clothes usually run VERY small, so I am tempted to take the Medium. But I’ve read some reviews that say that Gaiam clothes run big. So I see that you have the capris, and I am wondering if I can ask what size they are and what size regular pants you wear. I am 5’5″ and 128 lbs and usually wear a six 6 in regular pants. This is a crazy comment, I know, but I would trust someone who wears the brand more than I trust the web site. Any advice?

Hi Nancy! It’s so nice to meet you. I also checked out your own site and love it – you’re beautiful regardless of your age but it’s nice to hear someone honestly talking about aging (gracefully).

Anyways! I love love love my Gaiam pants. In fact, I asked for a second pair of capris yoga pants for Christmas. So, to give you some perspective :: I am 5″2, 120 pounds… I got the normal yoga capris in a small ( http://www.gaiam.com/yoga-capri/04-0934,default,pd.html?start=3&cgid=2010603) and they fit perfectly. LOVE them. Then, for this Christmas I got the Power Stretch Capri in a small ( http://www.gaiam.com/power-stretch-capri/04-1039,default,pd.html?start=8&cgid=2010603) and they seem a bit too small. Not sure though. Might keep them, might return them. I haven’t been active for the last month so I’m not as toned as I usually am and I don’t want them to be too big, so I’m leaning towards keeping them. They are just a little snug in the sense that they are *close *to my body!

Based on what you said I think the mediums would probably fit really well, while the smalls might be a bit too snug and uncomfortable. I will say that they use a good amount of spandex so they should also fit your body well and still be flattering :)

    * Just so you know, I am in no way a Gaiam expert! Just sharing my own opinion :)

Let me know what you get! And I hope to “see” you again soon!

    Namaste,
    Erin
