10 Tips for Boosting Your Energy

Posted on: 24 Jul 2012

Do you ever feel completely drained, unmotivated or like you could fall asleep right at your desk? Wish you could keep up with your kids or have enough energy to go to the gym after work or make a healthy meal when you get home? People that are trying to live healthier often complain about lacking energy. Having enough energy is not only important for mental health, but also for fitness and daily life.

Here are 10 tips for boosting your energy:

Drink Tea

Green tea is especially good for providing natural energy. There is no crash like you get with sodas or even coffee. Green tea tastes great, hydrates and provides a hefty dose of antioxidants too. Other teas are just as good as long as they are not decaffeinated.

Don’t Drink Soda

Soda, coffee and energy drinks will zap your energy quickly. Overtime they will make you feel worse, especially with all of the sugar or artificial sweeteners if you drink diet.

Exercise Daily

Daily exercise will naturally boost your energy. The blood flow and circulation provides natural energy to your body. While you may feel tired initially, you will eventually feel the energy surge.

Take B-12 Vitamins

B-12 is responsible for making blood cells and providing energy. Without adequate B Vitamins in your body you will feel lethargic. Take a supplement daily to keep energy levels high.

Get Outside in the Sun

The sun provides great energy that is natural and long lasting. Daily sunlight will boost your mood, energy levels and well being. There is also the added benefit of Vitamin D.

Eat a High-Carb High-Fiber Breakfast

A big breakfast with whole grains, fruit, and some nuts will give you sustained energy all day long. The added bonus is that whole grains usually contain the perfect amount of protein you need. These foods are also low in calories, but they provide energy for hours.

Consume Nuts For Snacks

Nuts as a snack will provide you with a little burst of energy. They are high in good fats. They also help you feel full. Choose a half ounce of almonds, pumpkin seeds or pistachios.

Avoid Smoking

Smoking constricts blood vessels and will drain your energy. Don’t smoke. If you do smoke, stop as soon as possible.

Don’t Overdo Supplements

Some supplements are acceptable, go to besthgh.com to see which ones are. Don’t start popping pills left and right because of their energy claims. They will drain your natural energy quickly.

Sleep Enough

Enough sleep is the most important factor for energy and health. If you sleep enough, you will feel the energy difference.
These energy tips are a suggestion for getting on the right path to high-energy levels. Follow them in your daily life. You will see a difference.

I definitely agree that diet is important but I believe that with the right diet, exercise and sleep you won’t need to rely on sugary, artificial energy drinks that are stocked with chemicals and not healthy at all. If you really need a pick me up I’d make a smoothie with all fresh veggies and fruit!
