Q1. What does wellness and health mean to you?
For me, wellness and health are about finding a balance between your mind and body. The connection between your body, and how you feel about it, needs to be nourished. When you feel good inside it often translates to how you treat your body.
Q2. What is the #1 wellness practice you live by?
My #1 wellness practice is paying attention to what my needs are and what my body is telling me. It’s a hard lesson to learn, especially when there are jobs and to-do lists, but listening to my body the moment it says “Slow down.” or “Get extra sleep.” even when I have things I ‘ought’ to be doing, pays off in the end.
Q3. Thinking back, what were your earliest influences regarding living a healthy and balanced life?
I didn’t have any good influences growing up. I was one of three kids to a single mom so the emphasis was more on quick and convenient. As a young adult, I got tired of hating my body so I began a journey towards loving it and on the way I discovered that I didn’t have to be overweight and that I could embrace a healthier lifestyle.
Q4. What has your journey been like over the last couple of years to get you where you are today?
My journey has not been easy and if you’d have asked me last year I would’ve still been holding onto lingering anger and resentment. When you decide to change your life like I did and you make the decision that who you are is no longer who you want to be, you have to go through a lot of growing pains to become a person you can be proud of. In the end it’s worth it and you look back and realize that despite the pain, the journey is amazing.

Q5. Looking back what was the most challenging aspect of your journey and what did you learn from it?
The most challenging aspect of my journey has been letting go of the things that no longer serve me. When you grow as much as I have friends and relationships no longer fit. As hard as it is to let go of those things I have learned that when you let go of what is bringing you down you create so much more room for the things and people that lift you up.
Q6. What is the #1 healthy food you love? The #1 indulgence you give into once in a while?
Right now I am going through a salad phase. With Summer officially here there are so many yummy fruits and veggies. I am especially loving tomatoes. My number one indulgence is salt, I really love salty foods and it’s usually in the form of french fries.
Q7. To get you through challenging moments in life, what is the one mantra or quote that you live by?
The one thing I always try to remember is that circumstances can change in a moment. Even when I am going through those tough times, I keep the faith that happiness is just around the corner. The pain never lasts very long and when it’s over there’s usually a gift somewhere to be found.
Q8. You’ve accomplished so much so far, what’s something you are most proud of?
The thing that I am most proud of is how fearlessly I have stepped out into the world to tell my story. What makes me even more proud is the fact that I’ve had women tell me how much I have helped them and influenced their lives. I never thought that I would have that power.
Q9. What’s your advice to those struggling with finding their own path to health and happiness?
Don’t give up but don’t force it. You’re ready when you’re ready and you’ll know when that is. There will be that turning point for you when you know it’s time to step out onto that path and change your life for good. Trust yourself, trust your intuition, and be gentle with yourself.
Q10. Finally, what are your plans for 2012?
Right now I am concentrating on helping women through coaching, my writing, as well as Oracle Card readings. Hopefully by the end of the year I will have cut back my hours at my “day job” so I’ll have even more time to continue to guide and inspire.
