Finding More Space Through Unplugging

Posted on: 22 Oct 2012

It is Sunday night, 9:25 PM and I’m writing this article, which seems ludicrous considering the title of this article. But honestly, this weekend got away from me I never had the chance to write about how this week I’m literally unplugging. I’m sure you can tell, just from the last two sentences, that I need a little time away. Away from computers, laptops, blogs, articles, technology in general.

I am unplugging
so that I can quiet the world around me
tune into my own thoughts
my own heart
beliefs

so I can reconnect with my spirit, my soul
realign myself with my beliefs
find my true direction

because sometimes the outside world
makes it hard to hear what my authentic self
what my entire being
feels
needs
believes

So I’m taking off a week. I’m cutting out Google Reader, emails, Twitter, Facebook, blogging, everything. I’m giving myself a week to sit quietly, paint, doodle, create jewelry, go for long walks, practice more yoga. Yes, you’ll still see me updating my Twitter account and other social media – I’m not going cold turkey – but I’m only giving myself an hour everyday to update my accounts. That’s it. The only other exception is my novel – I plan on working on it this week, which is technically using my laptop but I’m okay with that.

And that’s what my site is all about :: creating a life that works for you.

This Unplugging Session isn’t about cutting everything out completely, it’s about creating more space for opportunity, more room for growth. Because truthfully, I have a lot of ideas, thoughts and feelings swirling around in my mind and my heart yet it’s been hard to hear them over the chatter of the internet.

You’ll still see 2 more articles this week (Wednesday and Friday) and I’m even being featured on Grow Soul Beautiful on Tuesday (along with my new eBook, How to Lighten Your Load and Open Your Heart), but I encourage you to unplug a little yourself. Even if it’s only for an hour. Honestly, couldn’t we all use a little time away so we can tune back into our own thoughts, energy and beliefs?
